Since opening the doors of Maxie's in 2007, we've grown into a family of Milwaukee restaurants that includes Blue's Egg + Bakery and Story Hill BKC—each one built on thoughtful preparation, genuine hospitality, and a passion for memorable dining experiences.
Our name is a nod to the black work shoes worn by cooks and servers everywhere—solid, reliable, timeless. Just like our approach to hospitality. From brunch to barbecue, bakery to bottle shop, we're proud to offer honest food and heartfelt service that brings people together.
We're rooted in Milwaukee, and our restaurants reflect the city we love: vibrant, hard-working, creative, and inclusive. We're honored to support local causes and proud to be involved in our community, from partnering with organizations like Hunger Task Force to underwriting public radio. Because to us, being a great restaurant means being a great neighbor.
In 2022 and 2023, Black Shoe Hospitality was named a semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurateur by the James Beard Foundation, a recognition we share with every guest who walks through our doors and every team member who shows up to make someone's day.
